Tips for the Best Speed Test
Use a Wired Connection
Connect your computer directly to the modem or router with an ethernet cable. Wi-Fi speeds can vary significantly based on interference and distance from the router.
Close Other Apps & Tabs
Pause any active downloads, streaming, or video calls before running the test. Background activity on other devices on your network will affect results.
Test Multiple Times
Run the test two or three times at different times of day and average the results. A single test may not capture your typical connection speed.
Check Your Wi-Fi Separately
If your wired speed is fine but Wi-Fi is slow, the issue may be with your router — not your internet service. Try moving closer to the router or consider a Wi-Fi extender.
Restart Your Modem First
If your speeds seem lower than expected, try restarting your modem by unplugging it for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in. Wait 2 minutes before retesting.

What Do the Numbers Mean?
How fast data travels from the internet to your device. This affects streaming, browsing, and downloading files. This is the number most people refer to when talking about their "internet speed."
How fast data travels from your device to the internet. This matters for video calls, cloud backups, sending large files, and live streaming.
The round-trip time (in milliseconds) for a data packet to travel to a server and back. Low ping is critical for online gaming and video conferencing. Under 20ms is excellent; under 50ms is good; over 100ms may cause noticeable lag.
Plan speeds are maximum estimates under ideal conditions. Real-world speeds depend on your equipment, Wi-Fi vs. wired connection, number of devices, and the server your test uses. If wired speeds are consistently well below your plan, contact our support team.
